I rivestimenti marmorei del “Tempio di Venere e Cupidine”: breve nota critica

The monumental ruins located near the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, known as Temple of Venus and Cupid, is what remains of a large apsidal hall belonging to the Palatium Sessorianum. In this paper, new data from recent excavations carried out inside the monument are summarized and critically analysed. Archaeological research has brought to light for the first time some remains of wall and floor marble revetments of the apse. However, these data have been only partly discussed in the excavation report and less considered in the virtual reconstruction of the hall.
